Upload bank and card statements

Add a bank or card account and upload its statements as bank files, PDFs, CSV or Excel. Sumqo reads every line and skips duplicates.

Add a bank or card account

  1. Go to Banking and click "New Account".
  2. Choose the Type (bank, card or credit line), the Institution and an Account name.
  3. Add the last 4 digits and the statement day if you know them, then click "Save".

Sumqo does not connect to your bank directly. You download statements from your bank's website and upload them here, so you decide exactly what Sumqo sees.

Upload statements

  1. Open the account from the Banking page and click "Upload statement".
  2. Choose one or more files. You can pick several at once, or a .zip with a whole year.
  3. Click "Upload & extract".
Tip: Best: download an OFX, QFX or QBO file from your bank (usually under "Download" or "Export" next to your statements). It carries the bank's own reference for every line, so nothing is ever duplicated.

What each kind of file does

  • Bank files (OFX, QFX, QBO) are imported right away, with a result for each file: new lines, lines already imported, and a balance check.
  • CSV and Excel files open "Import statement (CSV / Excel)". If Sumqo cannot tell which column is which, click "Map the columns", then click "Import".
  • PDFs and photos are read for you: the period, the balances and every transaction, filed under the right year.

Every file you upload is kept as it was. You can download the original from the statement row at any time.

Put the lines in your books

  1. Go to Banking and click "Review transactions".
  2. For each line, check the suggested category and click "Add", or click "Match" to link it to an invoice, expense or payment you already recorded.
  3. Exclude lines that are not real income or spending, such as a transfer between your own accounts or a duplicate.
Note: The Banking page shows how far each account is imported and warns about missing months ("gaps not imported"). Upload the missing statements to close the gap.
