Accept online payments with Stripe
Connect a Stripe account so customers can pay invoices online by card or bank transfer. Payments are recorded on the invoice for you.
How online payments work
When you connect a Stripe account, your invoices can carry a "Pay now" button. Your customer pays by card or bank transfer (ACH) on a secure page, and the payment is recorded on the invoice for you.
Note: If the Setup tab says online payments are not enabled for your workspace yet, they are not available on your plan. Contact Sumqo support or change your plan in Settings → Plan & billing.
Connect Stripe
- Go to Payments in the sidebar and open the Setup tab (or Settings → Payments).
- Click "Add account" and choose Stripe.
- Give the account a label, choose the account type, and pick the allowed methods: Card and ACH bank transfer.
- Choose "Who pays the Sumqo fee?" (your business or the customer), accept the Sumqo Payments Terms, and click "Connect with Stripe".
- Finish Stripe's own sign-up. When you come back, the account shows as Ready.
Get paid on an invoice
- On the invoice, keep "Accept online payments" on and choose the methods.
- Send the invoice by email. Under "Online payment", choose the payment account; the email gets a "Pay now" button.
- Your customer clicks "Pay now" and pays. The invoice is marked paid and the payment appears in Payments.
Note: Bank transfers take a few days to clear. Until then the invoice shows the payment as processing, not paid.
Keep an eye on payments
- Overview: totals for the period and anything that needs attention.
- All payments: every payment, online or recorded by hand, with fees and net amounts.
- Payouts: money Stripe sent to your bank. Disputes: payments a customer challenged, with the time left to answer.
- Setup: customer receipts, the refund policy shown to payers, and ways to pay without Stripe (bank details, Zelle or check by mail).
